Ter Marsch & Co

We tried Ter Marsch three times. The first time was awesome. The other two times was below average. Burgers were cooked properly but the bun was at least 3 days old. They tried toasting it. I don’t have an issue with a toasted bun but at least ask me if I was prefer it that way. I also had to remove the garnish. It wasn’t a terrible experience I have to say. Don’t worry though that first experience still lingers so we may be back. The photos are from the first experience. Update: 09/07/2026 Went from three stars to 1!! ⭐☆☆☆☆ This was our third visit to Ter Marsch, and unfortunately it will be our last. The experience started with the drinks. I ordered the Citrus Smash, while my wife ordered the red cocktail listed directly above it on the menu. Both were disappointing—poorly balanced, lacking flavour, and certainly not what we’d expect from a restaurant with Ter Marsch’s reputation. The biggest issue, however, was the service and how our concerns were handled. My wife ordered a dish that was described as containing fluffy scrambled eggs. There were no fluffy scrambled eggs on the plate—what arrived looked nothing like the description. When we politely raised this with our waiter, she repeatedly insisted that the eggs were there instead of taking the time to understand why we were dissatisfied. The manager was then called over, and rather than acknowledging our concern or even considering that the kitchen may have made an error, she immediately defended the dish, stating it was prepared according to their standards. She then proceeded to tell us about the awards the restaurant has won. Respectfully, when a customer raises a genuine concern, the last thing they want to hear is a list of accolades. Awards don’t improve the experience sitting in front of you. Listening, showing empathy, and taking ownership do. To make matters worse, even the famous fries were disappointing—mostly small broken pieces that looked like the bottom of the bag. Everyone can have an off day in the kitchen. That’s understandable. What isn’t acceptable is a complete refusal to acknowledge the possibility that something wasn’t right. Look at the photos and tell me where you see “fluffy” scramble egg!!! After three visits, we’ve given Ter Marsch enough chances. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

We made a quick stop at Ter Marsch & Co Amsterdam for a relaxing break after exploring the nearby flower market. My husband enjoyed a cold beer while I ordered a refreshing elderflower lemonade. It was the perfect place to rest our feet, soak in the atmosphere, and people-watch for a bit. The vibe was quaint and welcoming with good music and a great location just steps from the flower market. A nice spot to pause and recharge before continuing to explore Amsterdam. 🍻🌸
