Waanzinnig genoten van een heerlijke 5-gangen lunch in een sfeervolle ambiance met vriendelijk bediening en prachtig uitzicht over Utrecht. Absolute aanrader!

Wat was dit voor ons een geweldige ervaring. Eten op grote hoogte! Wij hadden een 3-gangen menu en het eten was voortreffelijk! Mooi opgemaakt ook. Wij hadden een chardonnay van het wijnhuis Wente 'Morning Fog' wát een heerlijke, volle chardonnay! De bediening was ontzettend attent en allert. Wanneer wij weer in Utrecht of omstreken mochten verblijven, komen wij zeker weer! Volgens ons dus een aanrader.

While I recommend dining at the restaurant I don't recommend doing what we did and booking a table the night before - I was amazed that we actually got one...and so were the staff! Let's face it, with that view from a quirky building they wouldn't really have to try too hard but that's the point, they do try hard, very hard, and consequently the whole experience is perfection personified. The dishes are as creative as they are tasty, and reasonably priced, with all ingretients locally sourced, some from as close as their greenhouse on the canal bank at the base of the tower. Considering the size of the kitchen and the fact that everything has to be taken 37m up a water tower this is no mean feat. How the restaurant doesn't have at least a Michelin Bib Gourmande is a mystery to me as it could hold its own against most of the entries in that guide. You have to admire the staff who work tirelessly throughot the meal, making it look effortless when it obviously isn't. We had a great time in Utrecht and this was the perfect way to end our stay.

We came with high expectations, especially since it’s so difficult to get a table. This was also our last dinner before leaving the Netherlands, so we were hoping to end our trip with a memorable meal. Unfortunately, it turned out to be our biggest disappointment. Out of the five dishes we ordered, not a single one suited our palate. The biggest issue wasn’t that one dish was SOUR, it was that almost every course relied on the same acidic, pickled flavour profile. The foam tasted like pickle brine, the salmon included pickled elements, the cauliflower came with another acidic dressing, and even the beef was served with a sour sauce. By the end, everything tasted dominated by acidity rather than the ingredients themselves. When the server asked how the food was, I honestly said it was too sour. She simply replied, “Oh, too bad,” took away the plate after one bite, and walked away. Later, she even mentioned that the restaurant’s flavours often don’t appeal to Asian guests because they’re so sour. That made the response feel even more dismissive. Our bill came to €186.50. We left most of the food untouched, skipped dessert, paid, and walked out. No one asked why or made any effort to improve the experience. The only highlight was the sourdough: it was excellent. We understand this may simply be the restaurant’s style, but after waiting so long for a reservation, it was incredibly disappointing. This was supposed to be our farewell dinner in the Netherlands, but instead it became the worst meal of our trip and completely ruined our evening.
